What You Can Expect From the "Mini" Lessons

First, it is important to be clear that these are not designed to necessarily take up an entire class.

(Although if you have the time in your curriculum, that would be wonderful!)

What I am providing here is a three-part "mini" lesson comprised of:

  1. An At Home Video "mini" lesson with some interactive components to introduce a process and allow students to acquire the new information and begin to integrate it into their prior knowledge. (Dimension 2, Marzano)

  2. An In Class "mini" lesson with gamification components to extend and refine the learning process started at home. (Dimension 3, Marzano)

  3. A follow-up At Home assignment with a gamification component designed to allow students to use their new knowledge in a meaningful way. (Dimension 4, Marzano)

Next, it is important to know where in the Geometry Curriculum these lessons could fall.

My expectation is that students would have already been exposed to (and hopefully mastered) the following:

  1. Segment, Angle, and rigid figure congruence.

  2. How to draw and label diagrams properly.

  3. Proper notation of figures with symbols, including ordering based on corresponding parts.

  4. Reflexive and Transitive Properties.

  5. Segment and Angle Bisectors (and segment Midpoint).

  6. Medians and Altitudes of Triangles.

  7. Vertical, Complementary, and Supplementary Angles (Linear Pair).

  8. Understanding that all right angles are congruent.

  9. Points that lie on a perpendicular bisector of a segment are equidant from the ends of the segment.

  10. If two parallel lines are cut by a transversal, the alternate interior angles are congruent.

And most recently they would have been exposed to and begun mastery of the methods for proving triangles congruent, as well as knowledge and avoidance of "methods" which do not prove triangles congruent:
