IN CLASS COMPONENT
The in class component is the main reason for flipping your classroom!
ā
A common complaint for teachers is not having enough class-time to go into any real depth or explore interesting activities with their students.
ā
In the flipped classroom model, the introductory portion of a topic has (hopefully) been taken care of outside of the classroom, and now you have freed up time to work with your students to fully master the concepts.
ā
ā
I encourage you to use the in class time to add fun activities that fall in the gamification category of learning. Many of these activities can also be described as discovery or task-based learning. These activites provide authentic and memorable chances for students to explore concepts while have the expert (you) there to guide and prompt them when they get stuck!

Although converting your students into willing participants in the flipped classroom model may take a little time and adjustment, they will come around and the benefits are plentiful for them and for you!
